Continuing with genetics, this week we will complete the Mendelian genetics and move to Modern genetics. Now we have co-dominance and incomplete dominance.
Daily vocabulary quizzes will continue until every student has mastery. On Thursday we will have a short quiz on Mendelian genetics.

Feb 4 - 9 One of my absolute favorite things to teach, genetics! We will have lots of vocabulary that is an absolute must to know. With that said, we will have a quiz daily until each student obtains mastery! At the same time, we will begin looking at Punnett Squares
and probability for outcomes. Lots of practice will make us better! Lets look to have a quiz on Punnett squares on Friday! We got this!

LESSON TARGET:
Students will be introduced to stem cells, and the research that has been discovered with stem cells by reading and completing the debate as to "should STEM cell research be legal, or illegal in America?"
SUMAMRY OF ACTIVITY
GREETINGS EVERYONE! TODAY, STUDENTS WILL BE DISCUSSING THE DEBATE PERTAINING TO STEM CELL RESEARCH.
1.) First, watch the video "What are Stem Cells
2.) After learning about STEM cells, we will watch another video segment: "STEM Cell research controversy" on youtube.
3.) After the second video segment, we will read the segment: The Stem Cell Debate: Is it over?
4.) After we read the segment The Stem Cell Debate: Is it over?,we will divide into groups and begin working on your stance. You will need to decide your answer to the following question:
If therapeutic replacement cells could be obtained without using embryonic stem cells, should we continue therapeutic replacement therapy?
Include in your debate:
- Why you chose the pros side, or the cons side?
- How do you think this will benefit, or not benefit the human race?
- Do you think it is ethically ok or not ok to harvest embryotic STEM cells for scientific research, and cures for diseases?
