January 22 eLearning Day Assignment:

E-Learning Day

  • Please Complete the assignment on LD50

  • Once you are done, Using the LD50 for caffeine, 192 mg per 2.2 lbs of body weight. Determine how many of your favorite caffeinated drinks it would it take for you to reach your LD50. List your name, your favorite drink, the amount of caffeine in the drink and finally how many of the drinks you would have to consume to reach your LD50 on the Discussion Board on Schoology.

  • Help/Hint for starting the assignment:  The background graph is like what you will be creating using the data that we give you.  To find the Dealth %- Take the number of deaths, multiplied by the total # in sample, =, then divided by 100. EX.

  • 8x190=1520, x100=15.2% Do this for the whole column titled Number of Deaths and it will give you the %Deaths.

  • Then you will plot the points on the graph (It will be labeled like the one in the background information. Do this for both substances (graphs).  Be careful as the sample size is different on the second substance.

  •

January 14-18  Benchmarks are this week.  Science will be on Wednesday.  Please make sure that your iPad is charged every day and that you are present.  We will begin looking at how our body reacts to different substances at the cellular level.  We will finish up with how healthy choices effect our bodies.

January 7 - 11th

This week we will be concluding our Cell Analogy project and have a gallery walk to view others Thing Link projects.  We will then turn our attention to the differences and similarities in Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration.

December 18th-December 20th

Finally rolling into a new topic!  After a little review of cell parts and what we know about cells, we will begin looking at cell processes that are necessary to life, specifically Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis.  We will not have a Weekly Content test this week. The Cell Analogy Mini Project will take it's place.

  • NC Coach Lesson 10 & 11 Due Friday.

  • You should know the Cell Parts - Cell membrane, Cell Wall, Chloroplasts, Cytoplasm, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi Bodies (apparatus), Lysosomes, Mitochondria, Nucleus, Proteins, Ribosomes, Vacuole and Vesicles

  • Cellular Respiration/Photosynthesis Web-quest

December 13 & 14 - Hey, short week due to ice and snow!

December 3 - December 7th

This week we will be learning how to balance simple chemical Equations, observing chemical reactions and discovering how temperature affects the rate of a reaction.  Our next Weekly content Test will be Friday December 7th.  It will cover Conservation of mass, balancing equations and rate of reactions.
